"Installation was easy. Pelican provided me with everything I needed to get the job done!"
Drinking chlorinated water
The main function of carbon filters is to remove the bad taste and smell from the drinking water. Carbon filters do not require a lot of maintenance, and with proper sediment filter changes and media changes, can provide the best tasting water. With improved taste, the filters also remove odor providing you with fresh tasting drinking water. They provide an excellent value for your money and definitely a better choice then bottled water.
Cooking with chlorinated water
If you've ever cooked pasta in filtered water or made coffee or tea using filtered water you can definitely tell the difference. Chlorine is a chemical that is adsorbed into your foods and make your sauces and hot drinks taste foul. All of the top restaurants, chefs and even coffee houses use filtered water now so they can produce a quality product every time.
Showering with chlorinated water
Just like swimming in a chlorinated pool, showering in chlorinated water affects your skin and hair. Over time the chlorine will dry out your hair, requiring the use of conditioners for your hair and for those with chemically treated hair (colored) you may also bleach out your color. Your skin is an organ whose pores soak up chlorine when showering and vapors from steam. Because your skin does this, it can leave your skin itchy and uncomfortable. |

"We bought our filter in February 2012. It was easy to install and has worked flawlessly. Now, our water tastes great right from the tap and there is no more scale buildup in our shower! One unexpected benefit is that my wife, who has suffered from almost daily migraines for over twenty years, now has very few headaches; they stopped within a few days of installation. Pelican has been a miracle for us! Thank you!" |

"We are delighted with our Pelican water system. My skin feels smoother, my teeth are whiter, the clothes and dishes are cleaner, and we can have a drink of pure water from any faucet in the house. The set up went smoothly too. The carbon dust didn't really accumulate in the toilets after the first night. I didn't clean the tanks until about a month later as there wasn't any problem. For us, it is part of our living a healthier lifestyle." |

Love this system
My wife and I rally love this system. We live in an area with a well and when we bought the house it had a strong sulfur smell, which is normal for this area, and after installing the Pelican...poof the odor is gone! We haven't retested our water, but believe the "total e coli" bacteria is now gone..we should know more once it is tested. We do notice that the water feels better, almost like a water softener unit is installed too. I am glad I had a plumber perform the installation. It took the professional about 5hrs to install, so I hate to think of how long it would have taken me. Anyway, love the system and really glad it is installed.

It seems to be working well
The installation was a challenge, because of the 1” threaded input and output of the unit. I like most residential customers had to connect the unit to 3/4” copper pipe. When I called customer service they helpfully offered to sell me some different fittings that replaced the 1” threaded ends with 3/4” shark bite connectors. They worked like a charm. It might be helpful if when someone orders a filter on line, a question pops up asking what kind of pipe the filter will be connected to. Upon choosing the answer to that question a choice of appropriate fittings could be offered.

No More Chlorine!
Great system! The chlorine taste and odor in our water was unbearable at times. Now, we have great water at every tap in the house.
System was easy to install and came with good instructions. Had one issue during installation, but one quick call to tech support and it was resolved.
Great product at a reasonable price and good service too. What’s not to like?
Special thanks to Jim Barker for his help before the sale.

It’s been a great experience
Purchased this unit in the summer and had it installed by a local plumber. The install fee was much more than expected but this all turned out fine. He was meticulous, read through the instructions and made two visits.
As far as the pelican unit, it’s been and a noticeable difference in water quality. The water pressure was not affected but I live in an area with high water pressure area. It’s been a few months and it’s working as designed. No more sediment in my toilet no more worrying about the city flushing hydrants and having brown water. So five stars for me and hope this experience continues. Thanks

Great product and customer service
Easy to install and excellent product for the price. I have 2 changes that I wish they would have done. 1 is the sediment filter should have a pressure release button on it. 2 all threaded male and female plastic pieces should be changed to brass for a stronger more leak proof system. Overall this is an amazing system: our water is much more delicious, clean, and I know it’s safe to drink. We live in Paradise, CA and although our water district has cleared our water as safe we decided to purchase the PC600 system with UV as precaution. This is the best purchase we have made yet for assurance of clean water to our home. Pelican has a easy to use subscription service for filters and uv light and again superior customer service.

If filters the water from sediment and chemicals from the city water and makes it tast good and i am positive that the UV light kills germs and bacterial. I am satisfied with the system and after installing it, I know why they charge what they do because the install took me 3 days to complete it and turn it on over a weekend. Jeff

What is the difference between a water filter and water softener
Asked by: Kathryn
A water filter deals with chemicals in your water, like chlorine. A water softener deals with hardness minerals in your water.

Is your Pelican Model PC1000-PUV-14 good to use with a house with well water. My well does not have a smell but has a little rust. Thanks Tim
Asked by: Timothy
We recommend having your water tested since you have rust. With Rust this system alone will not work for your well.

Does your uv whole house filter lead, arsenic, chlorine? What are the other contaminants it filters out?
Asked by: Jo Anne
Whole house filters do not remove lead or arsenic. To remove those items in addition to chlorine and bacteria which is what the filter with UV does, you would need to add an RO drinking system at your sinks.

Installation kits are not required but can be helpful with DIY installs as they help reduce the need for cutting and gluing of pipes (or soldering if you have copper).

Premium 4-Stage Whole House Water Filtration System |

Stage 1
5-Micron Pre-filter System - The sediment pre-filter system reduces sand, silt, sediment and debris in the supplied water down to 5 micron (20 times smaller than a human hair) in size. Routine replacement of this 5-micron sediment filter will increase the effectiveness and protect plumbing and appliances from excess sediment. With average use, each filter is effective for approximately 6-9 months.
Stages 2 & 3
Catalytic Granular Activated Carbon Media (GAC) - Pelican utilizes a high-grade mesh blend of coconut shell based activated carbons in the Pelican Carbon Series Premium Whole House Water Filters. Learn More
These media are designed to filter chlorine, chloramines, pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, industrial solvents and hundreds of other contaminants that may be present in your water.
Stage 4
Pelican Media Guard - Copper and Zinc Oxidation Media (KDF-55) - We also include a patented copper-zinc reduction oxidation media.

Premium Stainless Steel - Lifetime Warranty |

The Pelican Premium Water Systems are wrapped in premium stainless steel to ensure long life, durability and unsurpassed quality ... Not to mention they look amazing!
The Pelican Carbon Series Whole House Water Filter Systems are specially designed as an Up-Flow System that does not require any special process or instructions for replacing the media. Other Down-Flow Systems on the market do not allow for the media replacement as an option because the homeowner would have to have special knowledge or tools to complete the task. Many water filtration experts agree that down-flow systems often have channeling issues in the media making them less effective in filtering out chemicals in the water because the water is unable to reach the unexpired media.
Channeling is the process where small tunnels form in the media allowing water to flow in the same channel every time. Water always takes the path of least resistance. The Pelican Systems force the water in an Up-Flow direction up from the bottom of the tank in a swirling motion causing the carbon media to swirl. This motion allows the water to have maximum contact with the carbon media resulting in a very effective filtration process without the possibility of channeling. This is found to be the most effective design in whole house water filtration systems.
It is important to understand how the carbon media inside the Pelican Carbon Series Systems works; Adsorption: the process by which matter (chemicals) adheres to the surface areas of a solid adsorbent material (carbon media). In layman's terms the chemicals in your water are adsorbed into the carbon media on contact. The carbon media does not release any chemicals back into your water once they are adsorbed. We offer the replacement media as a more cost effective and environmentally friendly approach. When it comes time to replace the media, you are not throwing away a tank, fittings, or having to try and dispose of a complete system. Not to mention the cost of hiring a plumber to remove the old tank and install the new one.
Some companies are trying to discourage this process and use tactics to scare the consumer into thinking that they must buy a completely new system when the media expires; this is unnecessary and not very cost effective. The media is the fuel for the system (it's like the gas in your car). If you had to replace your car every time you ran out of gas that would be crazy, the same goes for the filtration system. The tanks and fittings are designed for this specific application. The cost of the system does not only include the media inside the tank, it includes many factors: the tank, fittings, media, and labor to build, shipping, advertising, and overhead. The media inside the tank is only part of the cost of a complete system therefore you cannot rate the effectiveness of the media based on the low cost to replace it.
The Pelican Carbon Series Systems use an up-flow design and do not waste any water while filtering and conditioning the water for your entire home. While other systems use a down-flow design requiring them to backwash once or twice a week wasting 100-300 gallons of water each time they backwash. The fact is that we cannot afford to waste one drop of water. Water is one the most important resources we have on earth.
The Pelican Carbon Series Systems eliminates the need for an electronic head for backwashing because of its up-flow design. No moving parts means less maintenance and no service calls for damaged moving parts that render the system unable to filter your water.
