Spooky Concoctions to Consume This Halloween

Going trick-or-treating with kids is a blast, but more and more people are beginning to host Halloween parties as a safer and non-traditional alternative. Spooky decorations, fun games, and classic scary movies combine to make a memorable night for children or adults.

No matter who you’re hosting this year for your Halloween bash, preparing holiday-themed drinks is a surefire way to keep spirits up. Ghouls and goblins may be spooky, but there’s nothing to be scared of when you whip up one of these delectable drink recipes.

Candy Corn Punch in a Pumpkin Bowl

Orange is the color most often associated with Halloween – double down on holiday spirit by preparing this orange seasonal punch and serving it in an actual pumpkin!

    • 1 liter of orange soda
    • 2 cups of whipped cream
    • 1 cup of boiling filtered water
    • 1 12-ounce can of mango nectar
    • 1 package of lemon-flavored gelatin
    • 1 tablespoon of honey
    • 1 handful of candy corn
    • 2 glow sticks
    • 1 punch bowl
    • 1 pumpkin

First, make the signature punch. Combine the filtered water and gelatin in your bowl and stir together until the gelatin is dissolved. Add the mango nectar into the bowl and stir until mixed.

Move the punch into a large pitcher and refrigerate it for two hours (it will start to resemble Jell-O). After two hours remove the pitcher from the refrigerator and slowly pour in the orange soda. Transfer the punch to your serving bowl.

In a separate small bowl, blend the whipped cream and honey together then pour the mixture gently on top of the punch. Garnish it with a handful of candy corn!

Next, rinse out the inside of your pumpkin with filtered water then carefully cut it in half so it resembles a bowl. Extract any remaining seeds or pumpkin guts, then crack the two glow sticks and place them at the bottom of the pumpkin. Place the candy corn punch bowl inside the pumpkin for a glowing effect, creating the perfect holiday drink!

    Bloody Eyeball Cocktail

For grown-up parties, add a little ghoulish spirit to the party with this one-of-a-kind cocktail! Upgrade your candy corn punch with a spooky twist.

    • 1 1/2 cups of vodka
    • 1/2 cup of candy corn
    • Marshmallow crème
    • 1 large marshmallow (per cocktail)
    • 1 candy eye (per cocktail)
    • 3 drops of red food coloring (per cocktail)
    • 2-ounce shooter glasses

First, add the vodka and candy corn together in an airtight container. Let it sit for three hours and strain the resulting mixture to create some delicious candy corn vodka.

Pour the candy corn vodka into one of the shooter glasses. Take one marshmallow and apply some marshmallow crème on top. Gently push the candy eye into the marshmallow crème to affix the eye onto the marshmallow.

Drop the marshmallow into the shooter glass with the eye facing upward. Drizzle three drops of red food coloring onto the eye to give it a bloodstained effect. This will also help infuse your drink with a natural reddish-orange color. Serve the cocktail chilled for a delectable crowd-pleaser.

Whenever you’re hydrating or using water to create fun punch and spirits on Halloween, always rely on filtered water for crisp and cleaner drinks free of common contaminants. NSF-certified drinking filters reduce chloramines, lead, mercury, and other chemicals to provide healthy and refreshing water. Halloween is a holiday of caution – with filtered water you have one less thing to worry about.
