    DIY Fall-Flavored Drinks

The crisp air blows through your hair as you open the window, your cardigan catches a few wayward orange leaves as they ride the breeze, and the wood you’ve been saving all summer crackles and whistles as you set it on the fireplace. Fall is finally here, and the only thing missing to complete this perfect autumn scene is a delicious fall-flavored beverage.

No one should have to spend close to ten dollars for their preferred fall drink – we’ve come to your rescue with three DIY recipes for staple fall beverages. Stay warm by the fireplace with these delectable recipes:

    Caramel Apple Spice

This recipe comes to us from Baked By Rachel. The recipe is for two servings, so adjust accordingly to whip up more drinks for your entire family!

    • 2 cups of apple juice
    • 1/2 cup of water
    • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • Whipped cream

Combine the water, brown sugar, and cinnamon stick in a small pot. Bring the mixture to a boil. Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove the cinnamon stick at this time.

Pour the apple juice and the caramel sauce into the pot, stirring while doing so. Put on the lowest heat setting until ready to serve. Serve in glasses and top with whipped cream, adding more caramel sauce if you like. Yum!

    Spiced Mulled Wine

Infuse your wine with signature fall spices via this recipe from Adeline & Lumiere. This recipe makes “one batch,” likely 4 servings.

    • 3 cups (and 2 ounces) of red wine
    • 2/3 cup of caster sugar
    • 1/2 cup of orange juice
    • 5 cloves
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 1 star anise
    • 1 orange peel
    • 1 lemon peel
    • 1 teaspoon of fresh nutmeg
    • 1 pinch of ginger

Combine all ingredients except the wine into a large saucepan. Raise it to medium heat and add 2 ounces of red wine just to cover the sugar. Allow the mixture to cook for 4 to 5 minutes or until the mixture thickens and becomes sticky.

At this point turn down the heat and add the rest of the red wine. The wine should not be allowed to boil or the alcohol can evaporate. Cook on low for about 5 minutes then serve hot. Garnish with orange slices.

    Pumpkin Spice Latte

Enjoy this fall staple courtesy of Greatist. This classic recipe makes 2 servings.

    • 2 cups of milk
    • 2 shots of espresso or 1 cup of fresh coffee
    • 2 tablespoons of canned pumpkin purée
    • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
    • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
    • 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice

Combine the milk, syrup, vanilla extract, pumpkin purée, and pumpkin pie spice in a small saucepan. Place on medium heat and whisk constantly until the mixture begins to steam. Pour the mixture into a blender and blend for 15 seconds or until it’s frothy.

Prepare your coffee, separating the coffee into two mugs once hot and adding your pumpkin concoction. Top the drink with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.
