    DIY Face Mask Recipes

There’s nothing quite like a facial treatment to rejuvenate your skin and leave you feeling completely refreshed. But spa visits are quite expensive: you can’t afford to get a professional facial every weekend.

Luckily, there’s no need to spend hundreds of dollars on top of the line spa facials. In fact, you don’t even need to spend the twenty or thirty dollars to order facial creams and masks online. Some of the best facial recipes are simple, made from common ingredients you can find in your own kitchen. Try some of these DIY facial masks and stop throwing your money away to get results.

    Oatmeal Mask to Reduce Redness

    • 2 tablespoons of raw oats
    • 1/2 of a banana
    • 1 teaspoon of honey
    • Filtered water (about 1 teaspoon)

Mash up the banana, raw oats, and honey to form a paste. Include as much water as needed to ensure the mask is spreadable. Oats can gently exfoliate your skin and reduce your redness. If you’ve had a long hot day in the sun and you’ve neglected to wear adequate sunscreen, treat your burned skin with this red-reduction mask. Once you’ve made the mask, simply spread it and leave it on for 15 minutes! For bad sunburns try it multiple times per day.

    Chocolate Mask to Minimize Wrinkles

    • 4 tablespoons of coconut cream
    • 3 tablespoons of avocado
    • 1/2 cup of cocoa powder
    • 1/4 cup of honey
    • Filtered water (2 teaspoons)

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix until the concoction is smooth. If it is too pasty, add more filtered water. The mixture should easily glide over your face as you apply it, without proving too difficult to spread. This chocolate mask gives you a rejuvenating boost through antioxidants and applying it to your face also helps your skin produce collagen, helping your skin look youthful. Applying this mask often can help ward off unwanted wrinkles. Apply a thin layer and let the mask sit for 10 minutes before gently washing it off with cold water.

    Honey Mask to Calm You

    • 1 wedge of freshly cut lemon
    • 2 tablespoons of honey
    • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
    • Filtered water (1 teaspoon)

First, warm the honey in a microwave for a few seconds. After, add it into a small bowl with the cinnamon and water. Squeeze the lemon juice into the bowl and mix. Gently massage the mask onto your face and let it dry for about 15 minutes before washing it off. This combination mask has several benefits: the cinnamon can soak up excess oil on your skin while also reducing redness and inflammation. In addition, the lemon juice can minimize the appearance of dark spots and naturally exfoliate the skin. Use this mask once every few days for a naturally soothing effect.

    Egg Mask to Shrink Pores

    • 1/2 cup of egg whites
    • 1 teaspoon of orange juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
    • Filtered water (1 teaspoon)

Whisk your egg whites with orange juice, turmeric powder, and filtered water. Before you apply the mask, make sure you’re wearing an old t-shirt! If you get the mask on your clothing it can stain. Let the mask sit for 15 minutes before washing it off with warm water. Egg white proteins are great for your complexion, tightening pores and getting rid of bacteria that can cause acne. The dash of turmeric can help add some color to your skin tone as well: the herb has natural brightening properties. Any time you see a pending breakout, apply this egg mask and watch your skin transform.

Try these natural, easy-to-make facial masks and save tons of money in the process. And remember to only use properly filtered water: if you use water with contaminants you may accidentally infect your pores with bacteria.
