People who choose premium, choose Pelican!

Short-term exposure to drinking water with a nitrate level at or just above the health standard of 10 mg/l nitrate-N is a potential health problem primarily for infants.

Nitrate in groundwater originates primarily from fertilizers, septic systems, and manure storage or spreading operations. Fertilizer nitrogen that is not taken up by plants, volatilized, or carried away by surface runoff leaches to the groundwater in the form of nitrate.

Note: This product is not certified for the reduction of Nitrates for sale in California.

Best Water Period.

We live in a small mid-western town. The water tastes terrible, changes color from time to time, and makes the dishes turn white and stain our faucets. With the whole house filtration we have water that tastes better than bottled water! Can't imagine why bottles water doesn't taste the same, but it doesn't. No more white dish residue, no more crusty faucets, just clean awesome tasting water. We have frequent water boil incidents and with our UV filter we don't worry about them either. Terrific product. Love love love it!!

excellent product

My wife was having scalp issues with the water here in Ft. Myers. As a stop gap measure I ordered the filter hoping to correct or relive the problem. The filter was the answer and everyone is happy! One day service didn't hurt your cause either.

Professional and welcomed service.

So about a year after moving to the country in Virginia, I was about to do a major kitchen remodel. But before I was going to drop $2,000 dollars on new appliances I wanted to make sure the water quality was not going to degrade my new appliances faster than normal. With my well water being slightly acidic I needed a way to raise the pH and Pelican was happy to help. They spent about 45 minutes on the phone with me to determine what products would suit my needs best. By the end of my phone call I had a new carbon filter and a calcite tank ordered and would arrive in about a week. It's been 4 months since I installed the products and our water quality is much better. Our water tastes great right from the tap, our skin and hair fell much better after a shower, and our laundry feels better to the touch. To sum up: Great products, great customer service, and better quality of water. When friends ask I'll be sending their business to Pelican.

Pelican shower filters

I struggle with dry hair dry skin when I moved to Texas. My hair felt like a Brillo pad and I always had an uncontrollable itch. I later realized it was hard water that was causing the problem. I purchased the Pelican shower system and noticed a change. Als I need to mention the excellent customer service provided. I received my product quickly. Thanks Pelican.

Matt - most helpful

To Whom it may concern: Matt has been very helpful as we have been evaluating our changing needs while wanting to keep Pelican as our supplier for our water system needs. We had been purchasing bulbs yearly but now have determined we don't need to, as the amount of water used averages to usually less than 300 gallons a day. When we do need anything associated with our Trojan Max be assured we will be calling on Pelican as you have always served us well and as Matt has continued to work out how Pelican might best meet our needs. Sincerely, Linda Campanella

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. If I am on a sodium-restricted diet or suffer from hypertension is there a substitute for salt that I can add to the Pelican?
Yes, You can use potassium chloride instead of salt. The benefit is that you will be adding potassium to your water instead of sodium. Potassium chloride is a more expensive alternative but well worth the cost when weighing the benefits.

Q. What type of salt should I use in the Pelican?
It is recommended that coarse salt be used, which most grocery stores carry in bulk. Block salt should never be used.

Q. Will I notice a pressure loss after installing a Pelican?
With all brands of water softeners there will be a pressure drop. The Pelican PN Series are of the highest quality available on the market therefore the pressure drop will be very low compared to most other brands.

Q. Can the Pelican drain line be drained into my septic system and what type of effect will it have on the drain field?
According to the Water Quality Association Technical Papers concerning septic tanks, etc.: Concerns about salt and soil absorption rates were dispelled. The increased sodium content in the tanks discharge was shown to have no detrimental effect on the soil's ability to absorb water in a normal drain field. Interestingly, certain soil conditions benefited from it. Additionally, when the softener's calcium-rich regeneration backwash emptied into the septic system, the discharge could actually improve the soils percolation the conclusion drawn from these tests is that the softened water is not harmful to a normally operating septic system or drain field.

Q. Can the drain line be located above the softener?
As long as the water pressure at the softener is not less than 40 PSI and the run of the drain line does not exceed 15', your discharge line may be elevated up to 4' above the system. For each additional 10 PSI of water supply the line can be elevated an additional 2'.

Q. Is water with sodium recommended for use on my plants or lawn?
If you are using sodium chloride to regenerate you resin, overtime, softened water could be harmful to your plants and other vegetation. It is recommended that the outside faucets be bypassed from the softener.

Q. How much salt will I have to add to the Pelican PN3?
A typical home with a family of 4 with 2.5 bathrooms and a nitrate level of 10 will require a 32,000 grains system that will regenerate every 11 days. The system uses about 9 lbs of salt per regeneration, so if your brine tank is full (400lbs) from the start, you will not add salt for about 10 months.

Q. Do I need to know what size my plumbing fittings are before I order the Pelican Water Softener?
No, the Pelican System comes complete with 3/4" and 1" copper and CPVC plumbing fittings and also a 50' drain line for your convenience.
