People who choose premium, choose Pelican!

Short-term exposure to drinking water with a nitrate level at or just above the health standard of 10 mg/l nitrate-N is a potential health problem primarily for infants.

Nitrate in groundwater originates primarily from fertilizers, septic systems, and manure storage or spreading operations. Fertilizer nitrogen that is not taken up by plants, volatilized, or carried away by surface runoff leaches to the groundwater in the form of nitrate.

Note: This product is not certified for the reduction of Nitrates for sale in California.

Love it

this filter worked wonderfully and I did not realize how much it removed until it was full and I began with a rash & itch. I was about to go to a dermatologist when the new filter arrived and I installed it and the next day I noticed a difference. it has been 3 days and the rash is gone and I was able to change the ship date to every 6 months. a nice guy emailed me promptly and helped me change the shipment dates to earlier. wonder people at Pelican! thank you!!

whole house filtration

After looking into may whole house filters we decided upon the Pelican system. We received excellent help over the phone, having many questions about what it does filter and what the homeowners upkeep would entail (minimal). Having called a few times (new questions) the reps were always professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. Also, the day of installation when our plumber had some questions, someone was there to help out. I have referred friends to your company as a result of this excellent service, especially for the fluoride filtration system. thank you!

Improved dramatically

I built my home about 10 years ago and quickly discovered my water was not drinkable due to the high iron content. I couldn't buy white sheets, towels or clothing because everything stained. I had one system installed but the water still tasted of iron so I had to use a Brita Filter. I finally found the Pelican system, the answer to my problems. I was hoping for something maintenance free but I've come to the conclusion there's no such thing. I had a little bit of trouble finding a handy man willing to take on the job and the labor was not cheap but I am very happy with the system. The customer service was awesome. Mark Hughes was incredibly patient with my lack of knowledge and spent many hours on the phone with me. I would recommend this system to anyone with high iron content!

Great Product

I just recomended my fourth NS3 water softener to a friend. He is so happy with this unit as all the others friends are. Could not beleive the difference in the water. I have mine for two years now and still works like the same day I installed it. I have a black car that I couldn't wash at my house because it left white spots all over. Since I installed it, I can now wash my black Corvette at home. We are four happy customers from Pelican. NICE JOB

The best

I have had my salt less softener for two years now. Best money I have ever spent. I have a black Corvette that I could not wash at my house because of white spots left on my car. I can now wash my car home. Also my three toilet tanks are as clean as when they were new. Taking a shower is a whole did decent experience. It so refreshing to take a shower. Overall it's the best thing since sliced bread. I have recommended this to four friends who bought them and they say the same thing. NICE JOB PELICAN

A 3 Year Journey

Pelican friends, In Nov. of 2011 we purchased our first products (PC600 w/5 micron pre-filter & the Trojan UV device) from you. We built our house in 1986 and installed an on site well. After a water test we were told that our water was "slightly" hard and that there was the need for a SpinDown sediment filter. The negative effects were few outside of the toilet reservoirs & dishwasher, and, of course periodically cleaning of the SpinDown. The cost then of doing anything else to our water was way out of reach, especially with a mortgage & children. Fast forward 25 years. Mortgage done and costs very reasonable for improving our water quality. Within a week or so from the installation of the PC 600 the toilet reservoirs (25 yrs of darkness) were completely clear & dishwasher not needing iron out product. In Nov. of 2014 we purchased the NS3 to compliment the whole house filter & UV device. We are already feeling the positive effect on our bathing. We must admit that we are hard to please and slow to commend for a product that has proven to deliver very positive effects on a very important resource to us. Blessings!

Happy Review

We were looking for a whole house water softener/filter system that was able to give us a good quality water. We didn't know about Pelican Water Systems until we found it online and learned about the salt-free combo system. We thought that it was just great to have salt-free water for our entire brand new house. So, we contacted the factory and talked to a guy, Patrick, who gave us all the information we needed. He was very kind and professional and gave us a very good deal and we decided to purchase the product. Now we are looking forward to using and drinking the water that this product will give us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. If I am on a sodium-restricted diet or suffer from hypertension is there a substitute for salt that I can add to the Pelican?
Yes, You can use potassium chloride instead of salt. The benefit is that you will be adding potassium to your water instead of sodium. Potassium chloride is a more expensive alternative but well worth the cost when weighing the benefits.

Q. What type of salt should I use in the Pelican?
It is recommended that coarse salt be used, which most grocery stores carry in bulk. Block salt should never be used.

Q. Will I notice a pressure loss after installing a Pelican?
With all brands of water softeners there will be a pressure drop. The Pelican PN Series are of the highest quality available on the market therefore the pressure drop will be very low compared to most other brands.

Q. Can the Pelican drain line be drained into my septic system and what type of effect will it have on the drain field?
According to the Water Quality Association Technical Papers concerning septic tanks, etc.: Concerns about salt and soil absorption rates were dispelled. The increased sodium content in the tanks discharge was shown to have no detrimental effect on the soil's ability to absorb water in a normal drain field. Interestingly, certain soil conditions benefited from it. Additionally, when the softener's calcium-rich regeneration backwash emptied into the septic system, the discharge could actually improve the soils percolation the conclusion drawn from these tests is that the softened water is not harmful to a normally operating septic system or drain field.

Q. Can the drain line be located above the softener?
As long as the water pressure at the softener is not less than 40 PSI and the run of the drain line does not exceed 15', your discharge line may be elevated up to 4' above the system. For each additional 10 PSI of water supply the line can be elevated an additional 2'.

Q. Is water with sodium recommended for use on my plants or lawn?
If you are using sodium chloride to regenerate you resin, overtime, softened water could be harmful to your plants and other vegetation. It is recommended that the outside faucets be bypassed from the softener.

Q. How much salt will I have to add to the Pelican PN3?
A typical home with a family of 4 with 2.5 bathrooms and a nitrate level of 10 will require a 32,000 grains system that will regenerate every 11 days. The system uses about 9 lbs of salt per regeneration, so if your brine tank is full (400lbs) from the start, you will not add salt for about 10 months.

Q. Do I need to know what size my plumbing fittings are before I order the Pelican Water Softener?
No, the Pelican System comes complete with 3/4" and 1" copper and CPVC plumbing fittings and also a 50' drain line for your convenience.
