People who choose premium, choose Pelican!

Short-term exposure to drinking water with a nitrate level at or just above the health standard of 10 mg/l nitrate-N is a potential health problem primarily for infants.

Nitrate in groundwater originates primarily from fertilizers, septic systems, and manure storage or spreading operations. Fertilizer nitrogen that is not taken up by plants, volatilized, or carried away by surface runoff leaches to the groundwater in the form of nitrate.

Note: This product is not certified for the reduction of Nitrates for sale in California.

Low maint. - Great water

Best water filtration I've ever used. I'm so glad I went with a whole-house system instead of just dealing with the kitchen faucet for drinking water. The green sand system removes all traces of iron - completely. The carbon stage removes all traces of the chlorine added by my municipally-supplied water and I love the no-maintenance resin softener. My municipal water comes from large wells full of iron and other minerals as well as a high quantity of lime. Without this system my toilets and tub always had issues with iron streaks, the laundry would yellow, as well and all water fixtures had a constant build-up of calcium. Since I put in the Pelican system I have no yellowing of laundry, no iron streaks anywhere and no caked calcium build up on faucets. There will still be a very light film of what I can assume is very soft calcium build-up on sink basins and the tub, easily removed with soft scrub during regular cleaning. This is so effective and low maintenance, it's easily worth the initial cost.

Mark Hughes was/is amazing. I've been looking for a house water filtration system for awhile and once I spoke with him I was sold. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, a great listener and all in all an asset to your company. I will be calling him with a few more questions and I know that is just fine with him. Thank you for the great service!

easy installation

we recently purchased a Pelican water filtration system for our new condo and have been pleasantly surprised at how easy the installation was and how effective the carbon filter has been in reducing the natural scaling of our water. I would certainly recommend this system to any one who needs one.

Very good

I worked with Mark Hughes in Buying the correct systems for my home. One of the biggest thing was setting up the electronic head on the Nitrate tank. I would have had a hard time without Mark Hughes. He walked me through the whole menu without Mark I do not know if I could have gotten the system to work correctly. I am thankfully you have Mark Hughes working for you to help me.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. If I am on a sodium-restricted diet or suffer from hypertension is there a substitute for salt that I can add to the Pelican?
Yes, You can use potassium chloride instead of salt. The benefit is that you will be adding potassium to your water instead of sodium. Potassium chloride is a more expensive alternative but well worth the cost when weighing the benefits.

Q. What type of salt should I use in the Pelican?
It is recommended that coarse salt be used, which most grocery stores carry in bulk. Block salt should never be used.

Q. Will I notice a pressure loss after installing a Pelican?
With all brands of water softeners there will be a pressure drop. The Pelican PN Series are of the highest quality available on the market therefore the pressure drop will be very low compared to most other brands.

Q. Can the Pelican drain line be drained into my septic system and what type of effect will it have on the drain field?
According to the Water Quality Association Technical Papers concerning septic tanks, etc.: Concerns about salt and soil absorption rates were dispelled. The increased sodium content in the tanks discharge was shown to have no detrimental effect on the soil's ability to absorb water in a normal drain field. Interestingly, certain soil conditions benefited from it. Additionally, when the softener's calcium-rich regeneration backwash emptied into the septic system, the discharge could actually improve the soils percolation the conclusion drawn from these tests is that the softened water is not harmful to a normally operating septic system or drain field.

Q. Can the drain line be located above the softener?
As long as the water pressure at the softener is not less than 40 PSI and the run of the drain line does not exceed 15', your discharge line may be elevated up to 4' above the system. For each additional 10 PSI of water supply the line can be elevated an additional 2'.

Q. Is water with sodium recommended for use on my plants or lawn?
If you are using sodium chloride to regenerate you resin, overtime, softened water could be harmful to your plants and other vegetation. It is recommended that the outside faucets be bypassed from the softener.

Q. How much salt will I have to add to the Pelican PN3?
A typical home with a family of 4 with 2.5 bathrooms and a nitrate level of 10 will require a 32,000 grains system that will regenerate every 11 days. The system uses about 9 lbs of salt per regeneration, so if your brine tank is full (400lbs) from the start, you will not add salt for about 10 months.

Q. Do I need to know what size my plumbing fittings are before I order the Pelican Water Softener?
No, the Pelican System comes complete with 3/4" and 1" copper and CPVC plumbing fittings and also a 50' drain line for your convenience.
