People who choose premium, choose Pelican!

Short-term exposure to drinking water with a nitrate level at or just above the health standard of 10 mg/l nitrate-N is a potential health problem primarily for infants.

Nitrate in groundwater originates primarily from fertilizers, septic systems, and manure storage or spreading operations. Fertilizer nitrogen that is not taken up by plants, volatilized, or carried away by surface runoff leaches to the groundwater in the form of nitrate.

Note: This product is not certified for the reduction of Nitrates for sale in California.

Great system/great service

Bay Head was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy and the water systems are still being rebuilt, but in the interim there was too much emulsified sand & dirt in the water. Further, the water smelled like a YMCA swimming pool. After installation of the activated carbon system and its sediment filter, our water is as good as any bottled water. No smell. No sediment. Whenever I need additional filters or information, this company answers the phone with a knowledgable representative ready to help. All good!

Whole house filter

Replaced old salt water conditioner and 10 inch filter whole house filter and PC1000. Works well, with little if any noticeable difference in water pressure with 3 or 4 showers going at one time.

just over 5 months

It is a shame I could not upload a photo of the prefilter that I just replaced this morning in less than 20 minutes. Maybe 30 minutes from the time I shut the water off, released the pressure in the house, replaced the filter, installed the new one, cleaned up the mess, and turned the water back on. Back to the picture, it is rust red from the San Antonio city water and there are granular build-ups between the sections of the filter strings. Thanks Pelican Water system.

PC600 water filter

Love the system. Easy to install, compact for less space taken in the garage. Extremely easy to service when changing the sediment filters. ECO friendly carbon material swap out and durable tank for less landfill trash.

Excellent product

Since installed seen a big difference in the shower, dish washer and washing machine. My clothing seems to come out softer, dishes cleaner and my skin feels so much better when coming out of the shower. My biggest hope so far is the reduction of lime deposits on my fixtures and appliances.

Great water!

We love our Pelican system! We have had it for a few months and the water tastes wonderful! The shower leaves no water spots and we don't have that slimey feeling after showering with a salt water softener. Glass and silverware come out of the dishwasher without any spots (without any special dishwasher additives). Most of all I like drinking water that I KNOW is pure and chlorine free (today's municipal water is a scary thing).

best way to go

If you have a well or stream you are getting your water from a U.V setup is the best way to go. Even if your water test good you never know when it may go to bad water. Dumping water treatments down your well to get a good test is only a temporary fix. I am very happy with my pro 10 and the way I have it set up. Also very pleased with Pelican water systems for all the info they give us and the help to set the pro 10 up.

Great product and great service

I've had the carbon and softner combo for five years. I have been very satified with how effective the filter system is. Thank you, Mark, for helping me with ordering and explaining to me about the replacement media. Also, thank you for your patience with me!

Very knowledgeable tech

I'm very confident purchasing your company's product. It's partly due to the technician's ability to answer in depth questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. If I am on a sodium-restricted diet or suffer from hypertension is there a substitute for salt that I can add to the Pelican?
Yes, You can use potassium chloride instead of salt. The benefit is that you will be adding potassium to your water instead of sodium. Potassium chloride is a more expensive alternative but well worth the cost when weighing the benefits.

Q. What type of salt should I use in the Pelican?
It is recommended that coarse salt be used, which most grocery stores carry in bulk. Block salt should never be used.

Q. Will I notice a pressure loss after installing a Pelican?
With all brands of water softeners there will be a pressure drop. The Pelican PN Series are of the highest quality available on the market therefore the pressure drop will be very low compared to most other brands.

Q. Can the Pelican drain line be drained into my septic system and what type of effect will it have on the drain field?
According to the Water Quality Association Technical Papers concerning septic tanks, etc.: Concerns about salt and soil absorption rates were dispelled. The increased sodium content in the tanks discharge was shown to have no detrimental effect on the soil's ability to absorb water in a normal drain field. Interestingly, certain soil conditions benefited from it. Additionally, when the softener's calcium-rich regeneration backwash emptied into the septic system, the discharge could actually improve the soils percolation the conclusion drawn from these tests is that the softened water is not harmful to a normally operating septic system or drain field.

Q. Can the drain line be located above the softener?
As long as the water pressure at the softener is not less than 40 PSI and the run of the drain line does not exceed 15', your discharge line may be elevated up to 4' above the system. For each additional 10 PSI of water supply the line can be elevated an additional 2'.

Q. Is water with sodium recommended for use on my plants or lawn?
If you are using sodium chloride to regenerate you resin, overtime, softened water could be harmful to your plants and other vegetation. It is recommended that the outside faucets be bypassed from the softener.

Q. How much salt will I have to add to the Pelican PN3?
A typical home with a family of 4 with 2.5 bathrooms and a nitrate level of 10 will require a 32,000 grains system that will regenerate every 11 days. The system uses about 9 lbs of salt per regeneration, so if your brine tank is full (400lbs) from the start, you will not add salt for about 10 months.

Q. Do I need to know what size my plumbing fittings are before I order the Pelican Water Softener?
No, the Pelican System comes complete with 3/4" and 1" copper and CPVC plumbing fittings and also a 50' drain line for your convenience.
